For those hoping to move or purchase their first home, now may be as good a time as any. Record-high levels of housing affordability across the country were experienced during the first three months of this year, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
The data from the latest report by the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI) reports that 77.5 percent of new and existing homes sold during that period were affordable to families earning the national median income of $65,000.
"Homes in this year's first quarter were more affordable than they have been at at any time in more than 20 years," said NAHB chairman Barry Rutenberg.
If you've been planning on moving out of state and just waiting for the perfect time to call the moving van lines, now might be the ideal time. This could present you with the most affordable options for a new home.
The areas with the most affordable homes, according to the report, were in Indianapolis, Indiana; Dayton, Ohio; Winter Haven, Florida and Modesto, California. Relocating to a new home may be cheaper than ever, but to make sure the move goes well it is best to hire a household moving company.
