About the study

Every year, thousands of individuals and families complete long-distance moves to new states. Stevens Worldwide wanted to take a closer look at these relocations. Featuring data from the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) with a sample size of over 150,000 state-to-state moves, we can show you where people went, how far they traveled to get there and how much they took with them. Each state has a story. Navigate through our interactive map to learn more about the places you’ve relocated to, from, or plan on moving to in the future.

*Due to the nature of the study covering distance driven for state-to-state relocations, data for Hawaii is not available.
