Despite downturn, homeowning is still a dream for many

Even in the face of a housing industry downturn that saw home values plummet, 75 percent of Americans still consider owning a home a major priority in life, according to a new study by Integra Realty Resources (IRR). Whether they’re renting or living with their families, this study shows that they are seriously considering buying a home.

“Clearly, the American dream of homeownership lives on,” said the group’s president, Jeffrey Rogers.

The study polled only non-homeowners between the ages of 22 and 50. Of those polled over the age of 30, 76 percent cited “I have always dreamed of owning my own home” as a reason they wished to buy a home.

As the housing market slowly recovers, these prospective homeowners may be more likely to get their wish. Despite being an aspiration for many, moving to a new home can be complicated. Whether it’s pooling the belongings of multiple parties or transporting furniture from several locations, a household moving company can help ease the transition. The right relocation and moving services can help ensure that the dream of owning a first house doesn’t turn into a nightmare.
