Chiquita Brands International, one of the country's largest distributors of bananas and other produce, is inching closer to its eventual relocation from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the Business Courier. The latest step was the company's unveiling of two signs - the largest Chiquita logos in the world, according to the news source.
The move was announced at the end of last year and has been incrementally progressing since. According to the Charlotte Observer, the company was enticed into moving out of state by a more active airport and an incentive package from the state of more than $22 million.
"We are very confident that Charlotte is the optimal place for our business," Chiquita CEO Fernando Aguirre told the news source.
When the new headquarters finally open, the company expects to fill it with more than 400 jobs, according to the source. Some of those jobs will be new, but about 300 will be occupied by employees relocating from Cincinnati.
In such an extensive relocation - which will include moving IT workers and their equipment - professional relocation and moving services can help ensure that all equipment is handled gently and everything gets to where it's going.
