Trends in apartment living

As the economy continues to recover and Americans are relocating more, certain trends are becoming apparent - especially in regards to apartment buildings. Location remains the most important quality, while common rooms and exercise facilities climb up the list, according to a new a study conducted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

"It's all about the lifestyle for today's renters," said Jeff Kayce, vice president at Bozzuto Development Company. "They want the urban experience of less commute time and immediate access to various activities."

Many of those who relocate to an urban area in search of those qualities find that, in exchange, they have given up some of their living space. In situations like those, a long distance moving and storage company can help organize the move to a smaller dwelling.

Despite the amount of space, however, apartment living is on the rise - renter-occupied housing accounts for more than a third of American households, according to the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC).

A move to an apartment building in an urban area can give people things they are seeking - such as convenience and community - but it can also get complicated. Hiring a household moving company can help ensure that the move goes smoothly, enabling them the ability to experience the urban lifestyle many are craving.
