You’ve just Moved In, Now Childproof Your Home

Childproof Your HomeExploring your new home is awesome and fun, but if you have children, you’re not the only one who is going to have a great time doing so. Your little ones are sure to test the limits of your new home as soon as you and your interstate moving company arrive. Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for having a good time, but you may want to childproof your home to ensure that there are no accidents.

Locks Are Your Best Friend

When keeping children safe from themselves, locks are invaluable. Keeping doors shut and locked will make it harder for your children to wander away. If you have floor-level cabinetry, you may want to keep these locked as well; many of these locks are inexpensive and easy to install.

Establish Gateways

Create a safety zone in your home that is free of breakable objects or anything that could potentially cause harm to your child. Put up baby gates in doorways which will block off of the safety zone from other areas of the home; especially if you are unpacking and putting your home together after your move. It’s also important to use gates to block off stairways as well!

Discover What’s in Reach

Look around your house and search for items that might be within your child’s reach, a tactic suggested by Make sure nothing is hanging off of a ledge that can be dragged off and harm your child. This also happens to be a great excuse to organize your belongings into cabinets and closets.
