With more than 110 years of moving under our belt, it’s safe to say that Stevens Worldwide Van Lines has a library full of packing tips and best practices when packing for a move! Whether it’s selecting the right boxes or packing materials– we have the solution!
Identify your workplace. Ideally this would be a spare room that you can use to collect items for packing as well as assemble a workstation for ease and convenience of packing.
Build your workstation. Your workstation is key in making the packing process efficient and comfortable. A large table covered with a heavy blanket or mattress pad provides a good, firm work surface.
Gather supplies. When packing for your move, you will need a variety of supplies, including boxes, newsprint (unprinted newspaper for wrapping), bubble wrap, tissue paper, packing tape, felt markers, and scissors.
Stevens recommends the use of unprinted newspaper for wrapping and padding items when packed. Ink from newspaper transfers; newspaper should be used for outer wrapping or cushioning only and hands should be washed frequently to avoid transferring ink.
Once you have these items in place you’re ready to begin packing!
